I have to confess that there have been times when.....well, wait for it.....this may sound "crazy".....but I have felt a little bashful to acknowledge blessings. Specifically, I sometimes struggle (and that may be too strong a word), but I don't say "I'm happy". I find that there are so many people who are UNhappy, angry, discouraged, and have been through so many challenges, that I have felt to say....but me, I'm happy....may be "inappropriate".
Some people couldn't understand why so many absolutely LOVE that little song by Pharrell, "Happy". I've heard, seen, and read where people have asked, "What's so great about that song?" Well, a couple of things. One, is that it's a very jovial and lovely tune. It sticks to you. And then, it says just what I feel.......I'M HAPPY!
True, some people have a problem with that because they're not happy. Or, they don't know what happiness is. And I honestly feel bad for them. I really feel sorry for them. But, I've come to realize that I cannot and should not dim my own light because others aren't where I am. Ok, now before you frown, that doesn't mean that I think that I'm better than anyone else. And trust me, it doesn't mean that I don't know what it means NOT to be happy. See, that's the thing about happiness. It's depends on outward circumstances. And it may not always be existent. There are lapses, simply because that's life. But, what I feel really is deeper than happiness. Happiness is a byproduct of it.
I am full of JOY! It does not mean that everything in my life is perfect. Joy doesn't depend on perfection, nor circumstances. However, I guarantee you that when you find joy, you will know happiness. Joy is present regardless of what is going on. Happiness is present because of what's going on. And it is okay to be happy.
Some will never ever rejoice with you. Some may never share in your joy. Many will resent your happiness. They will be bitter with YOU because of THEIR pain. I have come to learn that it's not about me. It's about them not knowing any better. I have come to a place in my life where I will NOT apologize for my blessings! Nor, do I expect anyone to apologize for theirs. I take great joy and pride in encouraging, inspiring, empowering, and uplifting others to obtain their own joy and happiness.
I'm happy.....like a room without a roof.....and I do not apologize! I praise God!
